History
Petroleum Marketing Group was officially founded in 2001, though its history stretches back into the 1970s. Company founder Hossein Ejtemai had just finished a Computer Science and Engineering Administration Master’s at George Washington University when he purchased his first gas station, an ARCO in Aspen Hill, Maryland.
Mr. Ejtemai worked tirelessly at his new gas station, and soon was successful enough to acquire several more service sites in the Washington, D.C. area. By 2001 his operations had grown large enough that it was time to formally incorporate a new organization, and thus, PMG was born.
The company diversified its activities quickly, adding fuel distribution services to its offerings in addition to operating service stations. PMG also began making major acquisitions, purchasing 150 sites in Maryland and Virginia in 2004, and adding over 500 more by the end of 2012.
Over the next several years, PMG continued to expand both its holdings as well as its services, acquiring many more locations throughout the Eastern United States and opening airport plazas at several international airports.
Today, PMG employs over 600 people and serves 1,200 gas stations from Maine to Florida, making it one of the largest wholesalers and distributors of petroleum products on the East Coast. The company’s transportation division and its partners collectively deliver over a billion gallons of fuel per year.
As PMG looks to the future, we also remember our past — and the values which made us successful: a commitment to growth and profitability for all of our stakeholders, a passion for customer service, and a dedication to ethical business practices and community engagement.
